Not to make the devastation of Hurricane Katrina any less than what it is, a catastrophe. I believe that on this day we have lost a great man, even though I do not agree with some of his decisions, and ideas. Chief Justice Rhenquist has died.

I guess I think it is a big deal because now Bush has another vacancy to fill on the Supreme Court. This could prove to be a rather bad shift in power on the court. Although with Justice O’Connor leaving, all Bush can do is replace the two republicans the party lost. not a big deal.

But an influential person has passed away.  He was a source of keeping the federal government power in check. Let’s hope that the next justices believe the same.

I was saddened, which is rather rare.
